Apple just made the iOS 5.0 available via the Automatic update of iTunes 10.5, the iOS 5.0 download is a whopping 707.2 MB file download, so it may take sometime before you can use the new mobile OS. iOS 5.0 was first unveil by Steve Jobs from the last WWDC in San Francisco last June 2011, it will introduce 200 new features like a new Notification, iMessages, NewsStand, Reminders, AirPlay Mirroring, OTA Update, iCloud integration and a new Keyboard UI, not to mention the 1,500 new developer APIs for developers.

Looks like Microsoft will (soon) formally announce the upcoming version (update) of their mobile OS, they just posted the intro video of Windows Phone 7.5 a.k.a. "Mango" in the Windows Phone Youtube channel. The video features all the upcoming features that where not in the original release of Windows Phone 7, like the enhanced and sleek Metro UI, threaded conversation, instant messaging, START screen and mobile version of IE 9.0.

Samsung just announced their new mobile messaging service called ChatON, a free mobile communication service that allows users to communicate instantly with any smartphone users. The ChatON will be available in 120 countries and will support 62 languages. The service will also be in direct competition with BB Messenger and the still to be announced iMessage from Apple.

Looks like the patent war between Google against the world will be getting a bit more interesting, since Google will be acquiring Motorola Mobility; the mobile phone arm of Motorola for a whopping $12.5 billion in cold cash. After more than a month of waiting, it looks like the Skype for iPad app is now officially available on iTunes. If you can remember, the Skype for iPad app was leaked by an untimely upload of the Skype for ipad video on Skype's YouTube Channel, which was immediately taken down, though the video was already downloaded and viewed a number of Youtubers.
The native iOS Skype app will be a good alternative for ipad 2 owners who bought their devices in here in the Middle East where the facetime feature has been disabled.
